WOOL RUGS


The layer of natural hair of animals like goat and sheep keeps the animals warm and dry and thus permit them to survive in low temperatures. Wool is this layer of natural hair. Variety of wool is produced from variety of sheep and goats. It varies with different length, color, curls, and diameter and fold patterns. All sheep scattered over the world have nearly 200 standards and wool types, which come from almost 40 breeds of sheep. It is soft, available easily, can take any shape, is wrinkle free, durable and helps to control temperature.

 

Due to these properties it’s being used in many textiles.  Many home accessories are made of wool. Wool rugs are one of them. Home matting can be done by using them. They provide softness and warmth to the flooring. If you have hard wood flooring which remains cold and seems good in summers, may be keeping you away from sitting on it in winters. Wool rugs can be a simple and effective solution. If taken proper care and prevented from dust, wool rugs can be durable and can increase the ambience of your room.

 

They are available in different shapes and sizes. Depending upon the variety of fibres used, quality of wool rugs differs. The rug with greater density is more appealing than a rug with lighter density, which is low in quality. Wool rugs are both hand made and machine made. Hand knotted rugs are made using pure wool, while other rugs include fibres such as silk along with wool. Wool rugs are being increasingly used because of their appropriate cost and usage and availability in different designs .With passing time wool rugs are durable, stronger and beautiful. If taken care of, they give us company for years.
